Engineering - Opportunities Available Thelen Associates, Inc. is a leading geotechnical engineering and materials testing firm in the Greater Cincinnati / Northern Kentucky Metropolitan Area. We are currently seeking candidates for two entry-level positions in Geotechnical Engineering in our Northern Kentucky office. An M.S. degree in Civil (Geotechnical) Engineering is preferred. Practical experience in the geotechnical and materials testing areas is also preferred, but not required. We offer a professional work environment and career development opportunities. Thelen Associates, Inc. offers a challenging work environment in alluvial, glacial, colluvial, residual, expansive soil, hillside, and bedrock terrains. Most of our work is in the Greater Cincinnati / Northern Kentucky Area. Our projects range in size from individual residences to major developments, such as the Western and Eastern Regional Wastewater Treatment Plants, now in design and under construction. Foundation types range from shallow footings supporting light structures to deep foundations supporting larger structures over thick alluvial and glacial outwash sand and gravel deposits. Many of our projects include slope stabilization of creeping and sliding colluvial soils on steep hillsides, as well as design of retaining structures. Much of our work is forensic and involves determination of the causes of slope failures and building distress. New revisions to the local building codes have made seismicity an added challenge in local geotechnical design.
